I just spent a week on vacation doing some extensive driving and sight-seeing using Navigon as my GPS/turn-by-turn navigation. I was running it on a 3G iPhone, in a windshield mount. I travelled in the city (Milwaukee) and to some remote locations (Washington Island). I also used the FM transmitter in my power cord to play tunes while the navigation was running. Briefly - here was my experience...

PROS:
Never lost or had to wait long for a GPS signal.
Routes were excellent and it always got me where I needed to go.
Turn timing and lane illustrations were excellent.
It was a pleasure to use and made me wonder how I ever travelled without in-car navigation.
It quickly and accurately recalculated my route when I decided to take some detours along the way.

CONS:
The app seems to take a long time to load. (This was a little frustrating when I left the app to change songs or albums and then had to re-run it.)
There were some times when I shifted it from portrait to landscape and it took a minute or more to make the shift.
The voice sounds like a 60 year old lady who smokes - a lot. (Why not a younger voice - or even a cool British guy <grin>?)

All in all I was VERY pleased with Navigon on the trip!

Only things id change are more readable street names, more POIs (most dive bars etc arent on it... and PSU football stadium isnt.. wtf is that about), and ability to zoom in more than it currently does.

They were short on cool British guys. ;)

Well what about "Simon," the smooth, suave UK voice? Oh wait, that's Sygic. ;)

I'm with the OP on finding a more pleasant, soothing voice for Navigon. I still say G-Map's sexy female voice is the standard by which all others should be measured. It's like something out of a futuristic luxury sedan...

even better yet a sexy british *********...:)

Haha a Cockney ********* ehh? A proper fit girl or a direey slappa?

When I read that I had a vision the character "Shannon" from that show Footballer's Wives. My girlfriend used to watch it and I guess she made an impression on me...

Or if you know other BBC shows perhaps the spaced out one from Skins, Cassie? Every time you put in a destination she would say, Oooh Wow! That would be hilarious!
