I just spent a week on vacation doing some extensive driving and sight-seeing using Navigon as my GPS/turn-by-turn navigation. I was running it on a 3G iPhone, in a windshield mount. I travelled in the city (Milwaukee) and to some remote locations (Washington Island). I also used the FM transmitter in my power cord to play tunes while the navigation was running. Briefly - here was my experience...
PROS:
Never lost or had to wait long for a GPS signal.
Routes were excellent and it always got me where I needed to go.
Turn timing and lane illustrations were excellent.
It was a pleasure to use and made me wonder how I ever travelled without in-car navigation.
It quickly and accurately recalculated my route when I decided to take some detours along the way.
CONS:
The app seems to take a long time to load. (This was a little frustrating when I left the app to change songs or albums and then had to re-run it.)
There were some times when I shifted it from portrait to landscape and it took a minute or more to make the shift.
The voice sounds like a 60 year old lady who smokes - a lot. (Why not a younger voice - or even a cool British guy <grin>?)
All in all I was VERY pleased with Navigon on the trip!
