I cannot, for the life of me, understand how to enable these live updates on these apps.

Not sure if this is still current but I saw a YouTube video where they opened the NBA App, went to the games, long pressed a game that was happening and pressed “Show on Lock Screen”.

See above. In addition to that, I just tried it on the Sixers game that starts later today and my Home Screen now has this (yes, I’m in Australia and it’s tomorrow!)

I’m hoping this shows in dynamic island when being used. Time will tell.

Does anyone know why I must manually start a live activity? I wish that live activities would just show up for any game a team I'm following plays in. That isn't a thing yet, right?

In the app click on a live game. Then click on the eclipses … to open some setting and click on “Follow on Lock Screen”

A few days late, but wanted to say thank you for this. Seems strange to need to do this for every individual game, but whatever. I'm glad this works. Thanks again.

It is a soccer app after all, live activity could display 0-0 and be right the majority of the time even without realtime updates.

I think many people still haven’t understood “football” very well. 0-0 in football actually is very important. It means better team still hasn't scored & lesser team doing a very good job. I’d love to see 0-0 on my iphone Lock Screen in 85 mins if Arsenal playing for example. That’d be great.
