NC and App store

How come NC does not notify me of Java update from App Store??

Java 6 an exception since it's no longer developed by Apple and isn't distributing it anymore.

It didn't even notify me on iMovie update. I didn't open the MAS app though.

I was notified of a Java update right from Apple's software update and I installed it. 

No. Never. I open it maybe once a month and Cmd-Q it when done.

I get notified for nothing! This notification center is crap.... Have to have applications to be open in order to be notified? So whats the point in it? Seriously biggest loss of this mountain lion!

The only app that has that limitation is Mail.

Most 3rd party ones too... Instadesk for example! The app store seems to do this too! LOAD OF RUBBISH!

I was talking about the native OSX apps - and I have gotten notifications from the app store without running it.

ok then I am not alone with NC problem.

Not everyone gets the update notice at the same time. From Leopard on up sometimes I have gotten notified of updates at the same time I saw them posted online, other times it's been several days after.

In fact, I just got the NC update message for iMovie and Java a few minutes ago.
