Instead of routing data to a distant server, Near uses your iPhone's built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi antennas to open direct, peer-to-peer (P2P) connections to other users within a 100-meter radius.

Because there is zero server backend, you don’t create an account, log in, or hand over a phone number. Your chats exist strictly while the wireless P2P link is live. Once you walk out of range or close the app, the data vanishes completely from memory.
