I have a 17" MBP 2006 model that i need a case/bag for. I am taking a trip soon and need something to carry on the airplane. Right now I am looking at Incase and Booq. Will the current designs work with my Mac? Are there any other makers out there that I should check out? I want a shoulder bag or maybe a messenger bag. :apple:

this following setup of a hardsleeve and a bag works for me (and my classic 17 mbp) pretty excellent. (see this quote from another thread)

I have a perfect couple for my MBP 17:
an axio softbag which is really cool as it is designed vertical and not too baggy, but still has place for all the stuff you need to carry around with you: adapter, power plug, mouse, mobile, book, cables etc.:

perfectly snugging into the axio bag is this hardsleeve from booq:

other hardsleeves I have experienced are much too big in size, this one is very close to the shape of the mbp itself without adding inches to the sides.

was was important to me: beeing able to open the zippers fully around, not only half way like many softsleeves do.
(there is also a hardsleeve from axio, but I think it looks ugly - you can see it in the pictures on the linked site above - but I dont doubt if it fits as a 17 "in the bag. I think they combine this bag with a (big!) 15" hardsleeve, not a 17". But with the booq sleeve, you can put a 17" with double protection in.

so I can combine these two in every way I want: sometimes I just take the hardsleeve, sometimes only the bag (but no, I very rarely do that) mostly I take the combination of both: it fits so well it seems like it is made for each other. I can easily slide the mbp into and out of the two without any hassle, as they stick together quite well.

this combination is good looking, really protective but still light and not too bulky. Oh, and the price was quite nice, too. Both together for much less than what I'd pay for a crumpler bag or else.

You can check out a few options from Briggs & Riley. They have a pretty decent collection of laptop cases in various styles including briefs, backpacks, and messenger bags.

Just ordered a Custom Timbuk2 Messenger Laptop bag. How long does it take for it to be made and ship?
