Is there such a thing?

I tried Netportal and it doesn't seem to show all the shared folders on our network, and File Browser is only available for the ipad and I don't believe it lets you edit them. Is there such a thing that allows us to view the files, open them, edit them in WORD/EXCEL, etc and resave them back to the network?

Thanks!

I don't think an app exists. If it does I'd love to know. One option is using Dropbox. Place the Word/Excel files in a drop box directory and you'll be able to edit them wherever you are from your iPhone or iPad. Not ideal but it works. Maybe an app will eventually show up that works just as you are describing.

I don't think iOS and OSX allow stuff to be edited remotely at the moment.

With iOS 5 and OSX Lion talking about convergence, i hope this becomes possible when these two OS are released this fall.

Not straightforward. But after I saw that you could open a file with another app (that handles the file type - no default) when testing the combo AVPlayerHD and Filebrowser I have been searching for apps that can do the same. Open it back with Filebrowser.

I ended up at a page which exactly describes the way you could do this with the Documents To Go app. It can be done with this app and Filebrowser.

I will try to find it again ... But it seems to work with Documents To Go.
