Need a little help: Replacing processors - Core Duo to Core2Duo

Hi guys, (disclaimer: yes, I can't afford a new Mac at the moment!). I want to speed up my iMac, perhaps upgrade to Lion. I have found a few sellers on eBay but before purchasing I would just like to know if anyone has had any success doing this?

No, you can't upgrade the processor without buying a new Mac.
