I need to run at least 5 separate desktops, viewable one at a time, or split screen.

I have had no luck with Mission control as it is a nightmare to set up and lock in.

I want my 5 desktops to be independent and select-able at all times.

Suggestions greatly approached. a2

I'm just curious, can you elaborate more on your nightmare with Mission Control?
I run 8 different desktops across 3 different monitors with 4 VMs and 4 Mac desktops with no trouble and no issues from a 2013 MBP

I'm sorry I don't have another suggestion for you, since I've never had to look elsewhere, but I'm sure someone else will be along soon with a few

Yes, happy to elaborate. 2012 mini 16g ram i5. Tech level here 5 of 10.
lol.

Like many areas of the OS I don't get Mission Control. I know there is something I'm missing here. A step ?

I can bring it up Via- Sys-Pref, or Comm/up arrow. Then can't make it run.

At times I can make the desktop boxes appear in the spaces top of the screen, but when I touch them, or try to move or fill these boxes, they disappear.

Apple support steps just cloud my mind, and I have done them over and over and they flat don't work. LOL

Like using CCC instead of TM, (I have used both), I'm hopping there is a simpler, stable app to replace MC, although my mind is still open on using MC. a2

You could try TotalSpaces2. It puts an icon in the menu bar so you can select whichever desktop you want. Has hotkey support and you can even name the desktops to whatever you want if you have each desktop dedicated to a specific function like Mail.

That one looks pretty good, and priced right too. Thank you.

Also got an education on SIP. Often wondered what Fishrrman was always shutting down. LOL a2
