Yes, perhaps a bizarre thread to post, but it's a big community so I'll ask

I'm a big boy at around 19-20 stone, and my missus is ickle at around 8.5. We currently have a spring mattress and it's crap. Been looking at foam/hybrid mattresses like Simba, Leesa, Casper, Ghostbed... and hybrid like OTTY.

Anyone of a similar size have any real-world experiences of these as there are far too many "got the product free so I love it, obviously" reviews on amazon etc.

Cheers

I have friends that really like their Purple purchase. I'm a huge Sleep Number fan, myself. I had serious lower back issues that have been remedied by a Sleep Number. Mine is the 9000 (old now), but still great. When it comes time to replace this, I'll definitely get another Sleep Number.

I thought about trying the Casper or the Leesa mattress but ended up going with the Beautyrest Recharge Hybrid. My lower back pain has gone away and I sleep so much better now. I don't know if that is one of your available choices in the UK but it was well worth the price for me.

About 3 years ago we purchased a firm latex mattress (brand: Latex Bliss) and both the wife and I have been completely satisfied with it. It took a couple of days of me wondering if I had purchased a too firm bed, but then I adjusted and wow, it's wonderful. The advantage that latex has over foam, it is naturally cool and does not require extras (typically added to foam) to keep it cool.

Also, may want to consider an adjustable base. Their prices have come down. Great if you have back issues, or just want to watch some TV in bed.

I don't know if the UK uses European sizes or American but our bed has two 90 by 200 mattresses both sides are Tempur-Pedic one for her weight and one for mine.

i would dread shopping for a mattress. I think all of them are made in one large hut in the mountains of Cambodia. then they are re branded and re priced. Shipped to where ever.

The Cambodians do not use these mattresses.

Also something else to keep in mind. Make sure you keep the box if you get one shipped to you. I threw one out one time and got hit with a charge when I decided to return the mattress. And good luck getting any mattress that unfolds anyway back into the box :)

I second your sentiments. Nearly identical experience. I have the C3, have for 3 or 4 years now. I was seeing a chiropractor on a semi-regular basis prior to the new mattress, I've seen him less in the time since I got the new mattress than I had in the 3-4 months leading up to the purchase.

Well I’ve had the OTTY for 3 nights and I’m happy to say that the 3rd night was the best sleep we’ve had in ages. Just enough “hug” from the memory foam, and support from the springs.... and it was £150 less than the Simba/Leesa.

With all of these ~$1000 mattress companies popping up and offering free delivery, it seems to have really helped the consumers by driving prices down and adding additional features to compete. I can't believe what you can get now for the price.

Last thing I have to add is I used to have an adjustable base with a massage function. The massage is a joke. Don't waste any money thinking you'll benefit from it. It just shakes and makes noise.

Sounds like my missus
