I need to purchase a new MBA so my daughter can take my 2012 13" MBA to school with her. I am looking at the 11-inch model with 256 memory and 8GB RAM. I am also considering the refurb with same specs and mfg date of 3/2015. Is there a huge performance jump/battery performance difference between the i5 and i6 processors? I am not interested in the free Beats headphones. Thanks for any and all advice.

Sorry I just looked at specs and I think both units have same specs/processor so that was probably a stupid question unless there's been an update. Has there been a processor update post March 2015? Anyone think the refurb is a bad idea?

Just bought my wife a refurb 2015 11" air and she loves it. The only upgrade I recommend is storage space depending on your needs. I'm not a big believer in the 8gb of ram unless you have a very specific need for it.

The 2015 refurb is the current version that would be purchased as new. I've noticed a lot of sales going on from the macrumor's buyers guide with significant discounts... If those discounts don't outweigh the refurb, go refurb. Most all of my equipment has been refurb and there has been zero negative user experiences - i much prefer it in fact.
