But is there some advantage that a Magic Mouse offers over a traditional wired or wireless mouse?

And if I were to buy a new one from Apple, how would that compare to older ones?
The biggest benefit of the magic mouse is it is a touch based interface, alot like an iphone, making scrolling identifcal to if you were touching the phone itself. If that’s what you are going for then it makes the most sense. Otherwise, other options might be better. If you want a new one, then going to Apple is fine. I personally would check eBay for preowned magic mice in good condition because the price is more bearable.

@cozero (or others),

Tzumi's e-commerce site doesn't work, and there is no one there to speak too.

(I have no patience for e-commerce sites that do not work and do not allow Guest checkout!)

I have one of these that I use with my iPad and teleprompter app...

Logitech R500 Wireless Laser Presenter

Would that work with what we have been discussing in this thread?

@chown33,

I created a couple of test documents on my MBP to see if I can accomplish what I want on my iPhone.

Using iMazing, where can I copy the 2 PDF's and 1 RTF file onto my iPhone?

I tried copying them to "Documents" on my iPhone, but when I click on the "FILES" app I don't see anything.

(I find interacting with iOS to be so incredibly painful...)

I don't use iMazing so I can't say anything about it.

One way I copy files between my iPad mini and my Macs is a USB thumb drive.

Another way is email. From iPad's Mail app, I save each attached PDF or RTF to Files, in an "on My iPad" location of my choosing.

AirDrop might also work. I don't use it.

If you go the USB thumb drive route, you'll need either a thumb drive with 100mA or less current draw, or a powered USB hub into which you plug the thumb drive. AFAIK, the iPhone and iPad will limit the amount of current drawn by a USB device. Some thumb drives can have pretty significant current:

If you check the USB devices list in System Info on your Mac, you can read what each USB device needs for current. You may have to do trial-and-error if you can't find current-draw specs for a USB device you're interested in buying. In my experience, it's not typically listed on seller websites, but may be listed on mfgr sites.

I bought a wireless mouse with a disc-wheel at Walmart.

Hooked it up this morning and it works on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, but it isn't great...

First, I have to use my USB-C to USB-A dongle and plug in this tiny WiFi transmitter.

Second, there seems to be a delay when using the disc-wheel, and it is inconsistent in movement.

Third, if I depress the left mouse button and physically move the mouse that is smoother, but often when I click it highlights the text, and it won't be practical to use a mouse that way on my lap in my car!

@Andy_2341, so is Apple's Magic Mouse "guaranteed" to fix these issues and work? Or is it a crap-shoot?

I looked into the Magic Mouse more and it can’t connect to iPhones because Apple doesn’t want it to. I should’ve tested that before I said anything.

Glad I asked before I bought one!

One thing that occurred to my last night is to try using the teleprompter app that I use on my iPad.

I got the Walmart mouse to work, but it isn't very reliable, and I don't think the mouse is to blame - iOS just sucks!

Some of this will be easier to vet out after I have things rigged up in my car.

Burned out after a long week, so am sorta taking breather today...

Yeah, iOS certainly could be made to work better with peripherals, but that is just basically iPadOS.
