If I look very closely, it appears to be on the glass right where it meets the stainless steel.I can’t tell but looks like it’s on the stainless steel?

If it’s free to exchange or to return and then buy again, I definitely would.I got an iPhone 14 Pro on April 25, 2023. The return/exchange window ends tomorrow. It's been in the Apple leather case since day 1. Recently, I've noticed that there is a 2 mm hairline crack or similar right at the edge of the screen at the top right hand side. Can be seen the right conditions/light. I've also noticed that the Lightning port appears to have a chip in the paint on the left side. Not around the port, but towards the inside of the port.
I wanted to know if this stuff worth getting a replacement for? Are iPhones really this delicate or do I just have a "bad" sample? Even if I do get a replacement, is it likely it could also develop such "abnormalities"?
That doesn't look like a crack in the screen to me...it is parallel to the edge of the screen, whereas hairline cracks I have seen tend to be an angle often a right angle. Here is a picture of the hairline crack, chip, or scratch on the screen. Picture taken with my iPhone 6s. Not sure if it is any good.
If it bothers you, return it. You don’t need to give an explanation of why you’re returning it. And don’t feel any sympathy for a trillion-dollar corporation ‘losing’ money because you returned it.I really think these “defects” I’m seeing were caused by me. I guess you need to be extra careful with the phone. Even if I do get a replacement, it’s likely to develop similar or other such imperfections after some use. Other than these two very minor things I’m seeing, the phone is generally perfect.
I second this.If you think the device has flaws and want that rectified, return it, then buy it again. There is no point in waiting beyond the exchange window, because then you have to go through Apple's warranty process. And that means in the worst case scenario the warranty terms allow that your phone be replaced with a refurbished unit. And even if you get yours back repaired, I would not want a repair done on a brand new device, that is ridiculous, especially for an expensive flagship phone. With the return you get a new return window and the warranty starts fresh too.
The express replacement option under warranty is for a refurbished unit, by the way.
If you can initiate an exchange online no questions asked, and they send a new unit, that would work as well. I don't know if the warranty start date gets adjusted, but at least an exchange sounds like less of a hassle than returning and ordering again.
Agreed. Recommend returning it while you still have the option. You can easily turn around and buy another one right away and the 14 day clock resets. When you are spending that amount of money, you don’t want buyers remorse. If it bothers you, return it. You don’t need to give an explanation of why you’re returning it. And don’t feel any sympathy for a trillion-dollar corporation ‘losing’ money because you returned it.
Apple will resell your returned phone on their refurbished website and still make a big profit. But even if, hypothetically, that wasn’t the case, you still shouldn’t feel any sympathy for trillion-dollar corporations.
With the refund you get, go to an Apple Store (not any other store) location and buy the phone you want, and buy a Belkin glass screen protector so you don’t have the same problem again. Apple Store locations have machines specifically made to flawlessly apply Belkin glass screen protectors to all the iPhone models currently being sold.
This is kind of funny to me because you are really coming out swinging, and making some generalizations. It's not "apple vs ordinary person" or a matter of having sympathy for Apple, or telling anyone to "suck it up." Its like you've got a chip on your shoulder here.OP, you should return it. That jerk Tim Cook charged you a ridiculously high price for what you bought, so therefore, you deserve a perfect product.
Many Apple fanboys on this forum have more sympathy for a trillion-dollar corporation than for an ordinary person, and thus don’t want Apple to lose a penny, even if they sell cosmetically defective items to customers. They want those customers to suck it up and live with it instead of returning it for a refund and then getting what they paid for, which is a product free of cosmetic defects.
Never, ever use any kind of tissue to clean a screen.Actually, I think I know what could have caused the screen crack/chip/scratch as seen in the above picture. Earlier today I was wiping away some dust on the screen with a soft tissue as I didn't have any other cloth available at the time. That probably caused this. If that did cause this, then this is most likely a scratch and not a crack, correct?
You sure that's a chip, and not just a scratch? This is kind of funny to me because you are really coming out swinging, and making some generalizations. When I suggest to OP that they may be not quite so careful as they think with their phone, I am not looking out for Apple's bottom line, I'm actually trying to help OP! Something like a glass screen protector can be really useful.
Apple is absolutely responsible for delivering 100% quality to their customers. But it's only reasonable to recognize that once you buy a product and start using it, stuff can happen!
Pretty sure it'll buff outYou sure that's a chip, and not just a scratch?
Sorry, couldn't help it.
Thought I'd lighten the mood.
In my post you quoted, I wasn't talking about you nor anyone else on this thread. I actually hadn't read any replies on this thread prior to writing that post. The Apple fanboys I was referring to in my post are people on other (older) threads on this forum who criticize people returning things to Apple for small imperfections. This is kind of funny to me because you are really coming out swinging, and making some generalizations. It's not "apple vs ordinary person" or a matter of having sympathy for Apple, or telling anyone to "suck it up." Its like you've got a chip on your shoulder here.

I love the ones with black borders.try those tempered glass with borders. I got the Spigen GlassTR one. That should help protect the glass and bezel.
