Apple charges more for it's product in Europe (and most countries) because it wants to, not because Europeans make more money than Americans.

LOL.

It doesn't matter if there's a US English layout... you can change out the keyboard so that the key caps are "correct". Or you can just change the keyboard layout in the preferences panel and memorize the "new" layout. Or change the keyboard layout and add stickers to the keys.

It's still annoying to look down for the € key and not be able to find it because the US keyboard doesn't have it. Yes you can change the layout and add stickers, but this is annoying. Especially for the significantly larger number of symbols and characters used frequently in non-US keyboard layouts.

Actually it's due to the higher cost of doing business in other countries, i.e you have a higher VAT on things thus Apple pays higher VAT on everything in doing business. Americans may quote have 'more buying power' but we have to pay for a lot more things that the government doesn't cover. The prices look much higher especially since computers are an expensive item but you'll notice it on virtually anything from another country that isn't based in your country.

Yes like European or Japanese made cars that cost twice as much in Europe as they do in USA... Anyway Apple is right to do it if people still buy their stuff, but there is no real world reasons for it. Hardware from other manufacturers costs about the same in Europe as it does in USA:

European governments don't cover for stuff, the people with a job pay taxes to get healthcare and stuff, it's not free.

I don't think you understand how VAT works. Its a "value added tax" so they actually get the VAT refunded on the stuff that they buy for their business.

No it is not free but more your tax dollars go towards paying for services that we don't get here. My husband and I worked it out us both having similar salaries, comparing his in Sweden to mine in the US I was shelling out a lot more money because his costs were upfront in taxes and mine were in hidden on all the extras I pay for. Plus remember our prices are before taxes in some places like Chicago that can be 10% added on. Plus you get a longer warrenty time on products while we pay extra for a longer time. So really people stop looking at it as so cut and dry. Furthermore Apple makes its products in the same places regardless of where they are sold however having a presence in terms of stores warrenty repairs, etc costs them more money. When you buy your Apple in the US warrenty money is allocated to the US not to the country you live in therefore if you need it repaired it costs say Apple Europe more money thus in essence you raise the prices for everyone else to make up the difference. But i'm sure you run a business and are able to account for all these things thats why you understand it so well.

Is it not a qwerty Layout in US?

There are a few more keys on the keyboard than qwerty alone. I have trouble using an American layout. Its alien.

Anyway I bought a mac mini from Malaysia a few weeks back when I was there. It was considerably cheaper than Europe. I then got a further discount on it as the the person I bought it from was a main dealer in Asia and a client of my business partners law firm. I also had the misfortune of buying the mighty mouse. Thats going on eBay shortly. I will be buying an apple keyboard though, British layout of course. ;)

You still have to deal with customs and import taxes. Look at the previous responses in this thread. The governments aren't totally stupid - they watch for people trying to game the system. You might get away with it and you might get caught and be stuck with not only taxes but also a fine.

To ship it to you, the shipping company (post office, fedex, whoever) will require that he fill out a customs form and declare a value on it. You'll have to pay whatever taxes apply; VAT, customs, whatever, in order to receive it.

If he writes down a low but false value and then the package gets lost or stolen, you wont be able to recover the real value from insurance (which he better buy for something of that value)
