    Hey guys,

I haven't been an active member long now, but I've always meandered from thread to thread consistently, and I would just like some input from fellow Mac users.

Obviously, I'm posting because I have a problem. I would like to sell my macbook air, but there is somewhat of a small, significant (oxymoron juxtaposing those adjectives) dent on the top corner of my air's casing. I have just scheduled an appointment to go see a Mac Genius tomorrow, and the associate I talked to today said that if a genius won't classify the damage under my Applecare Protection Plan, that it would cost roughly $450 to replace the top casing.

Therefore, what do you guys think I should do? I highly doubt the damage is covered, so should I sell the air on Ebay like this? Or shell out the money for new casing and then sell?

Oh and here are pictures of the damage. Sorry for the quality (iPhone).

    That's quite a boo-boo...
Personally, I would try to sell it on eBay first at $450 off what you would normally sell it... No sense in putting in all that effort just to break even. I think they are still popular enough to get top dollar... If it doesn't sell, then consider putting $450 into it. I would check with the Apple rep first though, just in case.

Anyone know of accidental damage insurance for the Mac? Just curious.

    Thanks, Mr. Gadget.

^ Only site I've ever been directed to. But I can't sign up for it today and then have them replace my casing

I called my local Mac service center about the LCD/lid/bezel for the Air. Parts and labor is about $500. The whole thing comes in one peice and it's a BITCH to swap, he said.
What happend to your Air makes me what to get this. I have it on my MB and it works GREAT. Bumped it a few times and the case save it. Well worth the $50.

Yeah, I'd put out a ton of money on a case if I could go back and do so, it is surely a safe bet. I would much rather go back and stop my self from purchasing the air though.

Personally, I would try to sell it on eBay "AS-IS". :)

this site fixes it for 275 fix it, these are selling for 900 on craigslist now. its losing value quickly, so either sell it for a big loss, of spend a little to get it fixed and keep using it for 2 more years. you will be able to sell it for 1\2 as much as you could now.
Either way, it does suck, but I recommend fixing it.
