i reset my network settings and all settings.

go to settings -> general -> reset

you'll have to re-enter your wireless network passwords, brightness settings, wallpapers, etc. but i think it helped a little bit. i think. i was mostly having connection issues.

What iPhone are you using? I heard turning off spotlight search in settings might help the slowdown issues on a 3G.

the only thing you can do is turn off all the options in the spotlight setting...you can't really turn it off as in get rid of it.

    Not very helpful

A more helpful response would have been along the lines of:

    Settings>General>Home Button>Spotlight Search

Then uncheck all that you don't want to search for.

It would be nice if you told us what model iphone you have.
But my guess its a 3G model.
And yes they do drag with 4.0 installed. Even 3.0+ felt like a turtle on an iphone 3G.
You can downgrade back to 3.1.3 if you want and dont care about 4.0 firmware.
