I am currently running High Sierra 10.13. 6 on my late 2012 iMac and I keep receiving this upgrade offer. As an 86 year-old tyro, is there anything I should know before attempting an upgrade? Thanks in advance.
Mojave seems to be a smooth and stable version of the OS, perhaps the best since El Capitan (10.11).
BUT... a word of warning before you do an upgrade...
You should use CarbonCopyCloner (free to download and use for 30 days, it costs you nothing to do this) to create a BOOTABLE cloned backup of your current setup on an external drive BEFORE you upgrade. And then, test it to be sure it IS bootable.
This way, if something goes wrong, it's EASY to "get back to where you once belonged" because you have a bootable backup.
WITHOUT a bootable backup, you might be able to get back, but it WON'T be "easy".
Thanks for that. I already have my OS and all files cloned with Superduper on an external SSD, so hopefully OK, there. I'll give it a go in the morning.
Well, what do you know? The pop-up link for the Mojave upgrade has stopped showing. Does anyone have a reliable download site? I found one site, but all it seems to do is try to get me to download Catalina.
O.K. All done and dusted. Happily running Mojave, now. Not to be confused with installing Windows 3.1 from about 25 floppy disks! My gratitude for the advice and encouragement given on this forum.
