Hello everyone. Need help with an issue I am having. My apologies if this gets long winded.

I recently had Lion installed on my computer with SMC Fan Control installed.

Last week I did a clean install with Mavericks, and reformatted the Hard Drive before the install. I decided not to reinstall SMC Fan Control, as I did not like the program.

But since the clean install of Mavericks, I have noticed that my fan will not kick into high gear when my mack gets overheated.

Is this a known issue with SMC Fan Control? I read somewhere on Google that SMC changes protocols in the terminal, but if I did a clean install and reformat of the hard drive shouldn't the terminal be reset? If not is there a way to get SMC of my mac for good, so that the fan will function properly?

If anyone can advise me on this, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

Have you tried to reset the SMC and the PRAM?

Here is a link to the SMC reset from Apple.

Here is a link to the PRAM reset from Apple.

I would try these and see what happens.

    Good Luck!

Any changes to the SMC are not reset when reloading the operating system. Try the steps above and it should clear up.
