Agreed. Access to Amazon Prime Video is a must-have for me before I buy the next rumored AppleTV. Whether it's through an proper app-store and an Amazon Prime app being ready and available right away, or through a built-in channel like they do now, what matters is that it is there.

I doubt Apple will put an Amazon Prime channel on the ATV - Amazon prime is competition for iTunes video.

Netflix, HBOGo, Hulu, Crackle, all the network station channels, and the Disney channels, and pretty much any other channel that allows streaming movies or shows are competition for iTunes video.

While Apple may have a reason not to put Amazon Prime on the ATV - competition to iTunes isn't the reason.

Is there any indication that the lack of Amazon Prime on the aTV is due to Amazon not wanting it there vs Apple not allowing it there?

Amazon Prime really isn't. Not anymore than Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and Showtime. Nobody said we wanted the Amazon Instant movie store, just the Amazon Prime subscription service.

Agreed. Prime Streaning only. No Store required. But maybe it would be Amazon not liking that option.

If they release a channel I hope they don't use the horrible common UI they use for there game consoles and BluRay players. It is horrible. Pain to navigate as when you go into a show it will put you in the first episode. The if you remove a show from your Watchlist there goes all the history of the show you watched. If the new Apple TV does have this horrible UI I will stick with the Fire TV box for Amazon Instant content.

I would actually prefer Prime without the regular store titles mixed in. The free Prime titles are all I need the app for. I can't tell you how many times I see a title I want to watch only to realize it isn't free.

I also think Amazon would love to be on Apple TV with Prime. Apple customers are famous for spending more money than other customers - that's the exact crowd Amazon wants to sign up for the $99 a year Prime.

If there is going to be an App Store than I'm certain you can download Amazon Prime app.

I am kind of surprised that Apple hasn't offered an iTunes package to counteract Amazon Prime?

Me too. Amazon is really more of a treat to Netflix at this point. If Apple also offered something similar then that could be a problem for Netflix. Maybe that is why all of the Original Content coming from Netflix. Amazon is smart to include Prime TV and Music to get the Shipping. If they lowered the cost of Shipping I would program drop Amazon TV since it is not available on Apple TV (I have used Airplay and the App on my TV). But really just want to only use the Apple TV. Really tired of switching remotes and HDMI.

Im still convinced the future of the movie industry will be how the music industry is now. One price (say $19.99 per month) will let you stream all you can watch. Apple Movies to compliment Apple Music. You of course would still have movies in theatrical distribution long before they would enter a service like that.

When you look at figures at how much the average consumer spends per year purchasing movies it's something like $40. $240 a year has GOT to sound sweeter and I personally would love it as a consumer.

Amazon isn't the same as Netflix, Hulu, etc. Historically, AppleTV has not offered channels for services that allow you to directly purchase videos in-app, regardless of whether or not they have a subscription package. I'd love to be able to use Sling TV too, but they also allow movie rentals so they're out. Same as Vudu and similar services.

Yes but what a lot of us are saying is we would like to see the subscription service Amazon Prime offered on Apple TV *minus* their store, Amazon Instant. They are two separate services.

Just use AirPlay to watch Amazon as you can right now, it's little different than if you were using a remote to control the Apple TV. Only requirement, you either need a mobile iOS device or a Mac.

I have used AirPlay on my iPhone and my iPad and it is more then just a little different. I am having a hard enough time to simply get my wife to switch HDMI inputs. We really need a "better" solution then what we have now to get people to move to it. Navigating a small screen to look for things to watch vs. a 70" screen is not better. I also want a universal search which would include Amazon Prime. It can be so much better then anything we have now. I just hope the people at Apple understand this.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was amazon pushing against having Prime on the aTV because they have their own media devices (Fire stuff). Gives Prime users a reason to choose the amazon product over the Apple TV. I wouldn't be surprised for it to come to the Apple TV eventually though.

Agreed, and this mirrors my earlier post that most feel it is Apple keeping AP off the aTV when it very possibly is Amazon not wanting it to me on the aTV.

If they(Amazon) didn't want it on the Apple TV, they wouldn't have built airplay into their IOS app.
That is a point, but i could also make a point that if Apple didn't want AP on their aTV they would have found a way to not approve the app containing built in AirPlay and force it to only mirrored. Yes/No?

There's no doubt Apple doesn't want to make it easy for competitors. That's why you can't buy Amazon movies thru their IOS app. But Apple couldn't very well block the Amazon app from air playing, while allowing others to airplay. I think Apple knows they'll make way more money with an ATV app store, than worrying about Amazon Prime. To be honest, I use Amazon Prime way more for their free 2 day shipping, than I do for their limited free streaming movie selections. If they didn't stream anything at all, I'd still subscribe. For what I do watch on Amazon Prime, I would prefer a dedicated ATV app over airplay of course.

Amazon Prime can be found on Roku streaming players, about 10 other players running Google TV, iOS and Android tablets and phones, XBox/PS consoles, DVD/Blu players, TV sets, and TiVo.

What they WANT is for as many people as possible to sign up for $99 a year and then take advantage of the free shipping by buying as much as possible from their store.

This isn't about selling Amazon devices. At. All.

If there's an iOS app for a streaming video or music service, there will almost certainly be an ATV app for it after 3rd party apps are allowed.

Its less to do with Apple not wanting a competitor and more to do with Amazon NOT wanting to fork over 30% to Apple for everything users would purchase through Apple devices.
