I need about 30 non working Macbooks for a theatrical production. Would prefer white Macbooks. They are going to be destroyed each night. I have tried computer recycling programs, apple stores, etc, anybody have any ideas that might help me????

Thanks:D

Why do they have to be macbooks? And why are you breaking them?

It sounds easier to get a workshop to make up some kind of plastic laptop shaped box that you can smash - even polystyrene?

Broken Macbooks sell for a lot because you can reuse the parts, for example if someones selling a macbook with a broken screen, i can take that and add the RAM to my own computer and then use the mainboard to fix a Macbook that has a broken mainboard! So you'll find them hard to come across. Your best bet is to look around your local scrap yard etc :)

lol If I had a macbook that was broken I wouldn't give it to you just so you could smash it. Poor things!

Get some sort of case that looks like one.

What you need is to go to ikea or some furniture store where they have the fake appliances and see how you can get a hold of some.

Go to your local Apple Store and cite people to sell your 30 broken computers.

Can you tell us more about the production (or at least the scene that requires this)? I am interested in what you're doing and why you need what you need.

Having said that, I would second the poster above who advised going to ikea for the props. Although I believe ikea exclusively uses HP mockups for computers. At least that's true at the one nearest to me.

1 buy one whitebook body.
2 purposefully break it into pieces,
3 glue it back together
4 smash it in the performance
5 repeat steps 3 & 4

macbooks

This is for a production that involves a frustrated screenwriter who smashes his macbook when he gets writers block (this is per director and author).
These macbooks basically have to be free or all come to under $700....(commence laughter reel now)....I have tried all the usual places and was hoping that someone might appear magically with laptops that can be busted up (a mac user myself, the destruction does sadden me)...
:apple::confused:

You will never get 30 broken macbooks for $700, let alone free. You're going to have to find another solution like modifying some old Mac or PC laptops. Maybe you can find some Katrina damaged ones.

why not an messed up computer.. why macs? You can also try the white iBooks which are cheaper, but still not free

can't the writer just snap his pencil in two when he gets angry?

Oh and 30 broken macbooks for less than $700 - can you let me know where you eventually source them - i'm quite keen to buy 10000 for that price and retire on selling the spare parts.
