I really wasn't into buying the watch, but I am getting bored (gadget wise) and I also do need a new watch. Now I almost most certainly want the Space Grey (especially if I do decide to go with the Sport)... However I have yet to see any comparisons of the 2 side by side in the same bands... And I wanted to know how much more dull is the Sport, and if the dull/matte look makes it look better or worse (since matte isn't exactly ugly depending on product) I should probably stop into a store and decide that way but they'll end up upselling me the SS Watch lol... So I want to go in with my mind made up before trying them both.

Also I keep hearing how the SS Sapphire glass is really reflective and makes it harder to see in the sun, while the Ion-X. I am not too worried about the display getting scratched up as I am pretty great with my watches and with my tech, so the display is really a concern. I hate having to have max brightness on my iPhone to see my screen, let a lone on my watch.

And finally, do the stores have more of a band selection than what is actually available online? I really want the black link band... But only see the "silver" stainless steel color available for separate purchase. That would obviously be the deal breaker for me since it would just force me to get the SS+black link watch.

Thanks

Here is my space gray sport with a black stainless band from Amazon. Great high quality band for $50.

There are endless videos on YouTube comparing the two, I'd check there for a good idea if you can't go to an Apple Store

Today it was a bright sunny day, never had an issue seeing the screen with sapphire glass

If you're getting bored gadget wise, the Watch is NOT for you. You'll interact with it only minimally and when it really matters (i.e., when notifications come in). Don't expect it to keep you occupied.

Hello There and Good luck with your purchase but just so you know you can not buy the black Stainless steel link band separately at this point in time you can only buy it along with the Space Black SS watch as it obviously comes with that combo so if you really want a Black SS link Bracelet you're going to have to either buy the SBSS watch or try to find someone that doesn't want the band that is going to sell it.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it. I absolutely love mine. (ps I have a SB SS link band that I am thinking about selling separately from my watch if you want to email or pm me)

The best bet if you want to compare the two side by side is to go to an apple store and check both out.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your post, there is only one space gray model, and that is sport, the other is black stainless steel and that model is 1,000 dollars.

For me I think the sport's model price point was easier to swallow, while there SS (black or regular) is nice looking and the sapphire is a great addition, I just couldn't justify spending the same amount of money. The only difference between the sport and apple watch is the materials being used.

Yes, I realized that was the case afterwards. I ended up going into the store anyway... I just couldn't see myself paying like $600 more just for the link band and the black body... and actually preferred the look and feel of the space grey (sport) vs the extra glossy space black... Finger prints bother the crap out of me. Also, I realized, while watching YT videos, I can always just go on eBay and pick up the Space Black link band for a bit cheaper than the cost of the retail package and have the actual watch I preferred. Thanks for the input guys.

That band looks really nice in the link... It looks matted... But in your pic it looks too shiny/polished. Was it just the lighting? Like is said in my previous post, I hate fingerprints :3 Huge fan of the matte look if it is done right.

Yes it's matted. Lighting was dark and used flash. If you look at the links the center one is about a 1/3 wider than the two outside ones. The center does have about a 16th of a inch on each side that is shiny, just enough to add a little class.

Got this baby off amazon for $50. Immediately returned my classic buckle to the Apple Store for a$199 refund

Oh that one is super nice! Got a link?

I just ended up purchasing this one for the time being, I am surprised that it actually looks really nice in person and not plastic-y as I thought it would be and only $24 (http://amzn.com/B0107QPOFC):

I was also certain i wanted the black sport. But they didn't have it in stock while i was at the shop. Instead of waiting, i got the white sport along with a black sport band. Super happy. The black black band on the silver watch looks really good. And with 2 bands (a white and a black), I use the black during weekdays while in office, and switch to the white for the weekend to have a more sporty look.
