Lont-time Droid user, just switched to iPhone 6 last week. My Droid had a very simple, free app that allowed me to silence ALL sounds on my phone (Buzzoff). I could set it for a certain amount of time and it would turn the sound on when that time elapsed (e.g. 90 minutes while watching a movie). Or I could set it for a distance (e.g. 100 yards) and it would remain silent until I moved that defined distance.

Another thing I need is the ability to turn off all sounds at night except for my alarm and any phone number I choose (e.g. Silent Time). I manage rentals and need to receive text messages from an emergency line without receiving calls/texts/notifications about anything else.

I'm searching the app store and not finding anything.

Do Not Disturb is built in. See the Settings app.

You can set it to turn on or off on a schedule and you can also tell it to allow certain groups or contacts to ignore DND.

DND silences all notifications. The mute switch on the side of your phone silences all sounds.

The only thing DND and the mute switch does NOT silence is alarms.

There are two camps on that. One camp believes that's the correct way and the other camp believes the mute switch should silence EVERYTHING including alarms. I'm in the latter group, but Apple doesn't see it that way unfortunately for me.

Thanks, but the native DND does not work. Here's why:

I set my DND for 10pm - 6am. It turns everything off except my alarm. A renter calls my emergency line with a broken water pipe. My office sends me a text, but I don't hear it because my phone won't allow the notification.

I can "fix" this by placing my work number in "Favorites" but that DOES NOT work. Here's why:

I set my DND for 10pm - 6am. It turns off everything except my alarm and calls from my office. I get a call from someone in the eastern time zone looking for a rental. I get a call from a tenant that wants to report a minor drip in their faucet and they call at 2am because they just got off a night shift. I get a call from an east-coast telemarketer. Or I manually set my DND for a meeting, but then constantly get interrupted by phone calls to my work number. Not to mention, this would force me to use "Favorites" ONLY for my work number, which means no shortcuts to the people I call all the time.

Does this make sense? Native DND has been tried and will not work. I need a different app.

I understand you. I would like to have the ability to set exceptions for specific contact accounts. Like:
iCloud contacts are my private and from office exchange, these are my business contacts and I don't want to import all my business contacts to iCloud. If you have all contacts on iCloud you can create groups in iCloud (browser) and choose from these groups instead of favorites.

I will look into creating a cloud group, but I don't think it would work. Using my second example above, I can set DND with the exception of my work phone numbers. But what if I set my DND during a meeting in the middle of the day, or for church on Sunday? All my work calls would still go off. The only option is to turn the phone completely off or adjust my settings manually every single time, neither of which is practical.
