But have you listened to the Shure E500/SE530?

Sonic bliss my friend, sonic bliss. Of course, at $350-$400 they aren't something most people would even consider.

I like the Etymotics, having owned the ER6i and their precursor version in the past. I'm using Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro now which aren't bad, but I'm probably going to go with the ER4's in the future. Shure's get lots of good press, too, but I just havent used them so I can't comment.

I hope you people with the earphones costing hundreds of dollars only listen to lossless music because otherwise you've wasted your money.

For someone who listens to normal 128kbps-192kbps or even up to the higher quality encodes, a pair of CX-300 or the cheapest shure are great.

of course we do.. Otherwise you would die of hearing all the artifacts in the compressed music

They are the real deal. Apple sell them in their online store for a frankly ridiculous price.

Great headphones though. If anyone owns an 1991 Mazda MX5 and they do a lot of motorway driving then these are perfect for bringing music (that you can hear) back to your journeys :)

Well, Apple sell almost everything for full price. Mine were nearly half of what Apple want for them here.

I had found the Shure E2C at Sam's Club for $20 off, which isn't a bad deal, but so many people complain about the lack of comfort that I wouldn't touch them. The CX 300s are quite comfortable but it's still rather disconcerting to be so cut off from the outside world.

You know they don't twist and stay like outside like the old kind and most cheapo pairs they just sit in the ear dont like push them in just set them inside the ear bhind that little like ear clit.
