    Hi there,
    I have a 2008 MacBook Pro.
I've been using a 4-year-old Apple Cinema Display (23") as an external monitor, at 1920x1080.
I'm thinking of getting either a
    - Dell UltraSharp 23" (1920x1080)
    or the
    - Dell UltraSharp 27". This latter display has a resolution of 2560x1440. Sounds great, but I don't know whether my MBP would support that.
My MBP has a GeForce 8600M GT graphics card. I don't know if other tech information is needed to determine what resolution a machine will support.
    thanks,
    malch

The highest resolution you can drive is 2560x1600. That's as high as it gets these days.
