I really need a new external HDD. BUT i want it to be cheap, and have at least 100GB. It also needs to be able to have read/write capabilities on both the PC and Mac.

No firewire, USB 2.0 is what it needs to be.

I am clueless in this subject so please enlighten me!

I built my own. I bought an external enclosure, mine had Firewire, USB and E-SATA, and then bought a 750GB drive. Put them together, and poof, external USB goodness.

How cheap is cheap?

Here's a handful from target.
A lot of people seem to talk about the Western Digital My Book Pro one.
Prices have dropped a lot over the last few months and what you are asking should be pretty easy to find in just about any electronic department or computer store. Also, a lot of people check out newegg.com.
I do recommend Seagate SATA drives - I've had one for 3 yeas now and still no signs of problems.
Good luck, and let us know if you have more questions.
