The Bootcamp drivers of NVIDIA are very very bad.
Try the original Nvidia drivers at:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers
The installation is a bit hard
Follow the instructions on this website
Is very important to insert in the search terms of homepage the right PCI-DEV that you can find on the Control-Panel, Hardware Management of Windows XP
For my MacBookPro 15" Nvidia 8600M GT, Need for Speed Shift is now totally playable

What settings are you running shift at on your 8600M GT? Also, since we have the same 8600, what drivers did you download from laptopvideo2go?

for 8600M GT download version 190.40 (at second page)
download the driver and the modified INF file
Uninstall existing NVIDIA Bootcamp drivers.
First launch nv4_disp.inf.exe and then launch the driver setup.
Change the refresh of videocard from 59 to 60hz.
In the game is very important to set the shadows to medium (otherwise the game crashes)
I play with 1440x900 resolution, texture high, motion blur low, car high, track medium, shadows medium

hmm, let me see if that is the same story with 9600GT. Because it feels like the drivers are really bad

tell you what, I couldn't install any of the drivers from that web site. On win7.
I entered the ID, etc. Downloaded, but it just won't let me put them on.

hey is there a reason you didn't download the most recent drivers (191.07) and went with 190.40 instead? also what version of windows are you running?

Ok guys, now please tell me, what happens when you unplug your ac cable from your macbook ? Does the framerate decrease ? or does it stay stable ?
When i use anything newer than 185.85, my framerate always decreases when i unplug my power chord :(

any 2.26ghz mbp users who got it to work

for any 2.26ghz mbp users who got it to work, what OS are you using and what upgrades from stock (hardware and software) do you have? I'm running a stock 2009 mbp 2.26ghz with windows 7, and whenever I try to play it, it says "Need for speed shift has stopped working"

any suggestions

i've tried both the demo and a full download from the internet and I get the same result with both
