The title speaks for itself. (Sorry if this is a stupid question i don't know much about it) I have pre-ordered snow leopard. If i install it over leopard will i lose all my documents and music etc or will it just install over leopard and not affect them? Should i back up my hard drive before i install snow leopard?

Always backup. If something went wrong and your data got hosed, you'd be kicking yourself for not running a back up ahead of time. There were some nightmare stories when Leopard 10.5.0 shipped. ALWAYS BACKUP!

A simple upgrade will preserve your data and settings. You immediately return to work after the computer reboots. It is always a good idea to backup your data whether or not you are upgrading your OS.
