ok so i just received an iphone 3gs from my bestfriends granddad and he said he forgot the pass for the phone so i tryed to recover the phone and now its all just messed up. now all it does is get to the apple logo and stays there forever and then flashes and says the barrery is dead...idk wht to do and i need to jailbreak it and unlock it.....

yea i tried to jailbreak it and thats when it started freezeing on the apple logo.and i just tried that and it didnt work...
This is an obscure error normally dictating hardware failure. Try to put it in Recovery (not DFU) and try iTunes. If it fails, put into Recovery again and take it to Apple. There is nothing you can do.
like i can get it to the activation page in itunes but i dont have my ATT sim so i need to get past this and redsnow just keeps sending me back here after it jailbreaks..

Have you tried using Pwnage Tool?
My advice to you is to use RedSn0w 0.9.6rc16 and download your iDevice's firmware at http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/. Search for your IPSW firmware file after running RedSn0w 0.9.6rc16 as Admin. Then, you should check the box that says "Install Cydia" from the screen that follows choosing your IPSW firmware. Once you do that, follow the directions to put the phone into DFU mode. This will unlock the phone and, of course, jailbreak it.
