My 6s+ died (won’t take a call).

My 5 options:
1. Apple Care out of warranty (just left it last month for $329)
2. XS Max
3. 11 Pro Max
4. Older Iphone to tide my by an year or non OLED
5. Android Phone

I am in the ecosystem so #5 really isn’t an option. I want to upgrade to OLED, however I was hoping to gut it out a year for 5G. Any thoughts.

Since it sounds like you are an AppleCare buyer, maybe consider joining the iPhone upgrade program.
You'll have the option next year to send in your 11 Pro Max and get the 5G phone (if all the rumors come true).

Once you get the future-proof phone you want, you can just keep it and pay it off.

11 Pro Max.

Why buy an XS and miss out on the HUGE improvement to camera with auto night mode and incoming Deep Fusion. XS processors can’t take advantage of that.

Sounds like you’re a guy who keeps a Phone for a long time so you might as well get the best one now because there’s a big difference between the two, it’s not just incremental , the Pro camera is a game changer.

$599 iPhone XR to save your money for the upcoming new form factor iPhone 5G .

That is why I am possibly regretting the Max, the timing couldn’t be worse. I want the 5G new form factor, that was my plan. However XR has a worse pixilation than even the 6s+. If I went cheap, I would get the regular Iphone to get double cameras.

What if the camera isn’t an important feature for them? The iPhone X, Xs have great cameras. As an iPhone XS Max user, the camera upgrades are so small (to me) I can’t justify $1249 to get a better camera. The iPhone X, XS, and XR are great devices. I’d het one of those used to hold me over until 2020. Even if 5G isn’t in next year‘s iPhone, I’m sure the camera will be even better along with EVERYTHING else.

Its a bit of a stretch to call the iPhone 11 Pro‘s camera a game changer. 🙄 Nothing super special about it that the latest crop of Android devices can’t keep up with.

I don’t take a lot of pictures, but going from 1 camera to 3 is huge. The 5G and no notch is something I am worried about missing out on.

Going from 1 camera to 2 cameras is huge too! The resale value of the iPhone XS, iPhone X and used XRs is incredible. Pick up a gently used unit for cheap and use it for a year or so. Is that 3rd camera worth the extra $500+ to you? That’s a call you have to make!! For me, $500 could be spent elsewhere, especially since I’m not a professional photographer.

If my XS max stops working or needs replacement, I’ll buy a cheap used iPhone X to hold me over... or I’d just go back to my iPhone 6S Plus if a new iPhone was only a few months away.

Go to Walmart, pay $199 for a brand new retail 2019 production 6S+ and insert your SIM card.

I would visit a store to check the "pixelation" concern before dismissing it. In my opinion, there's a lot of misplaced concern where none exists. The XR camera is already significantly better than 6S due to the larger sensor on 2018 iPhones.

Unfortunately that is out next year probably

I went to another store and made a decision... 11 Pro Max. Insurance was only going to be $100 but my sister in law who helps with money thought it isn’t worth it to sink into an old device and just go with a new one as I expressed interest.
