If you had to make a decision, would you choose:

Late 2008 Macbook pro 2.4 core 2 duo/4GB DDR3/250GB/ 256MB Nvidia dedicated card

and a 27" Apple led cinema display

or

a 17" antiglare macbook pro, i7 2.66?

For what do you want to use your future Mac?

Because both setups are quite different, but the 15" MBP in combination with the 27" might be a better deal. Is the 15" a refurb or used Mac?

The macbook pro, I already have. It was a refurb, but I was considering buying the 17" antiglare. I have the 27" display as well, Just dont know if I want to keep it.

Do you use it more as a desktop? How important portability is for you? Do you need more power? You didn't give any hints of your usage and what is wrong with your current setup etc...

I would go with 15" + external because I like the extra portability but would get more screen estate when at home.

I'd take the 17" Macbook Pro - the screen size is more than enough, at least in my opinion, for use as a full time computer and it's a bit more powerful than what you currently have.

+1. My current setup is similar to yours right now, but I'm building a PC because my MBP is too weak to play games now.

I'd stick with this as well. The extra screen real estate at home is a huge bonus in my book.
