Hey guys!

In short, I'm debating between two processors: 3.06GHz Core2Duo and 2.53GHz Core i5. Both laptops are brand new, and both are utilizing a 256GB SSD along with 4GB RAM, same graphics card, etc etc.

Essentially, my main debate here is over my use of the Final Cut Pro/Express program. I will first be purchasing FCE due to monetary constraints, but should quickly be acquiring FCP. Which processor would be more sutiable for handling somewhat extensive (I'm not making a movie here) use of FCE/P? Also, will the difference be marginal?

Which would win-out in everyday tasks, and even intermediate tasks such as extensive use of Garage Band or iMovie?

Thank you so much!

While Core2Duo is very capable, for what you are doing, you will see the gains that the i-series has to offer. You may even want to consider the i7 if finances permit. With i7 you will see major differences with processor-heavy tasks. For basic stuff like Word Processing and web browsing, you won't see any difference and the SSD will make more of an impact on these than the processor.
