I'm getting a new 320 GB hard drive installed in my MBP. Instead of paying the tech for my data transfer, I thought I would just make an image of my data using Disk Utility and then transfer it myself from my external disk drive. However, I did NOT put OS files on my external drive (now I wish I had) so I will have to install Tiger on the new drive first and then transfer the image (which will include Tiger OS files) onto the new hard drive. Is this about right? Without being able to boot from another drive (could I use my wife's PB, but she has Leopard on it) I have to install Tiger 1st, then transfer my data files, then do the Leopard upgrade. Geez, a lot of work. I'm making an image of the MBP "Macintosh HD" which will be everything (except networks) right? As you may tell, not fully engaged with my Mac knowledge, wasted too many years with Windows! Thanks to all the Mac geeks that can help... 😀
