Need help! Downgrade 5s to 8.4

My sister is getting my 5s and it is running the PB, and I need it back on 8.4 to restore her backup. Currently I tried putting it into recovery mode and having iTunes Dl the software, tried this multiple times on my MBA and now tried on a desktop PC, but each time the iPhone turns on and thus gets out of recovery mode, completely on its own, before iTunes is done with the process. Right now it's supposedly extracting the software, but the iPhone isn't even in recovery mode anymore. What do I do? Should I DL 8.4 from online? Also, her backup is on 8.4, will I be able to restore that backup if the iPhone is on 8.4.1, or will I need to DL 8.4?

You can have the phone on 8.4.1 and restore from an older version. No problem.

If recovery mode won't work then shift/option update to 8.4.1. Then erase all content and settings and restore her backup.

Ah ok. I am DLing the .ipsw file for 8.4.1 now. Hopefully this will work!

Yes! I contacted AppleCare and they said try a different cable and surprisingly the recovery mode option worked with the new cable! So I was able to successfully restore the backup without problem.
