When I click on something in OS X that is supposed to open a URL, it opens my browser, but does not go to the URL. If my browser is already open, and I click the link, it does go to the URL. In other words, I have to click every web link that is outside of my browser twice. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this?

Thanks in advance.

To find that "bug" some more information is needed.

What Mac OS X version, what browser and version do you use, and from where specifically do you open those outside links?

OS X 10.5.8
Firefox 3.6.3
It happens regardless of where the link is sent from, but as an example, when I click "Go to Inbox" in the Google Notifier menu it happens. Or if any application tries to open a URL.

Yes, it's the default browser. And yes I looked through the settings, but I didn't see anything that would affect that as far as I know. I haven't changed any settings on the browser or on anything else that I can think of around the time this change took place. Any other ideas? I'm stumped.

Does Safari function correctly?
