    Hi,

When I use the file dialog box (from any application) to choose any file, Mac opens up several popup dialog box asking for me to enter my password for my encrypted disk image. Mac opens up several of this popup dialog box. Even if I click "Cancel" on the dialog box, a new ones pop up. I have to close the File Dialog box first, then I can press "Cancel" on the several dialog box that got opened.

While the pop-up password dialog boxes are up, I checked my Activity Monitor, it shows the following (in hierarchy). For example, when I accessed the file dialog box through Disk Utility (dialog box for creating a new disk image):

    - Disk Utility
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper
    - ...
    - diskimages-helper
    - diskimages-helper

I was actually planning to attach screen capture images to illustrate. But same problem - when I have the file dialog box opened from Safari, I see those pop-ups again. In the Activity Monitor, the parent process for the diskimages-helper now says "Safari"

    I'm using OS X Lion.

Is this a bug in Lion? Is this a malware/virus? Please help!!

    Thank you.

Also, when I execute "ps -e | grep diskimages-helper" I get something similar to this:

    1915 ?? 0:00.01 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskImages.framework/Resources/diskimages-helper -uuid AAAA1111-1111-AAAA-BBBB-ABCDEF012345

You can rule out malware/virus as a possible cause. No viruses exist in the wild that can run on Mac OS X, and there never have been any, since it was released 10 years ago. The handful of trojans that exist can be easily avoided with some basic education, common sense and care in what software you install, and none of them cause the issue you're having:
