in my advanced topics in computer science, we had to solve the problem in this email:
a way to
go from VHS (analog) to iMovie without being degraded by Macrovision
protection. I have an analog to digital converter (Canopus ADVC110) --
same question for DVD to iMovie. Anyone who "rips" DVDs should have the
solution.

Thks - I actually found the answer on a forum. With the device I purchased
ADVC110 -- there is an "undocumented" feature that defeats macrovision
protection from both a VHS analog signal and DVD digital signal -- tried
it, it works.

I have yet to get to album conversions to MP3s -- I'll take any
recommendations on how to best do that. I have a 30 year old BSR turntable
and 30 year old Techniques receiver and both a PC and an iMac --- have all
the cables, hopefully there is standard windows or Mac s/w to use - what
inputs/outputs and s/w should I use -- I guess I'm using the receiver as a
pre-amp(?).
any ideas?
