Hello all, I would like to get a video camera that would a nice step up from my Cannon VIXIA HF 10. Nothing professional but a good upgrade.

    Looking forward to your suggestions.

    Thanks much :)

What do you have in mind and how much are you willing to lay out.
Is best to start out with what camcorder you are looking at.

Get a vixia for $1100 then shell out another $100 for a used rode mic

    or...

Get a sony handycam for $1100 and a used rode mic

or....... you could just get a t3I a new rode mic and tripod

Slightly out of your budget, but the Canon XF100 is quite good. I have one, and have been using it for a year or so. 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, 25p at 50mb/s.

Thanks very much, yes it is quite a bit out of my budget and I am not at that level of proficiency :)

I was looking at the VIXIA HF G20, any opinions?

    Thanks again

Great camera, It can do some very good work with the right editor the right writer and the right crew. Even hollywood style work
