The only thing I understood from this thread is that your name is Jennifer Clift and that your computer is being used as a platform to hack someone's WiFi. If you are certain that you did not install and use the WiFi Crack app, then you should go to the police immediately. At any rate, you are only wasting your time here.

Not true; she's actually been given some good advice here (not by me). At any rate, she'd REALLY be wasting her time if she took your advice (specially if she gave the police her landlord's phone information).

First, your computer was not hacked. When something happens on your computer that you don't expect or understand, it does not mean your computer was hacked or infected with malware. It means you need to troubleshoot the problem you're having. In over 7 years of reading "My Mac was hacked!" threads, not a single one ever was. The likelihood of an average user having their Mac hacked is ridiculously remote.

My computer started acting strange
What exactly was your computer doing that you considered strange?
so I did a little novice excavation
This is part of your problem. You're poking around and reading information about your computer's operation when you don't understand what you're looking at. A better approach is to post what the specific symptoms are, then let people guide you through an intelligent troubleshooting process.
Isnt there someone who can tell by these commands that someone was trying to get in?
No one was trying to get in. Your computer was not hacked. Stop panicing, take a deep breath and explain what symptoms make you think your computer was hacked.

I need to report this if so. I am a female and after I found this out, I really felt violated. Isnt there someone who can tell by these commands that someone was trying to get in?

I would not report anything at this point in time. From what you have posted, I don't see any cause for alarm (re: someone hacking into your Mac).

GGJStudios gave some good advice.

Remove emotion from the equation, and look at the subject at hand from a technical point of view (from those here who are better versed).

Sorry guys, but if I'd find some applications on my laptop for WiFi hacking that I have never installed, that alone is reason enough to go to the police.

It's probably safe to say that most Mac users don't understand all the apps and processes that came preinstalled with OS X. If they went to the police every time they encountered something they didn't recognize or understand, the police would have no time for real police work. There is no evidence of a crime in this situation, so going to the police would be a waste of time for both the OP and the police.

As a retired Cop; I have to ask: Have you ever been to the police?:D:D:D

For all we know, she had friends over at her apartment at some point, and maybe one of them downloaded the app so that he or she could use her wifi with their phone or iPad etc.

I think calling the police is premature and overreacting, given the negligible information provided.

Hey brah. Firstly I don't think your Mac was hacked. If your landlord did install something it would have been from physically accessing your machine.

It sec 101 is to not do anything rash once something is discovered. You want to establish what has been compromised on your machine first.

Granted you may not have the skills you should prob just take this as a learning experience. Reinstall OS X, change your passwords for everything, put a password on your Mac and move on.

Now, there is software out there that can use your webcam to capture photos as your Mac is accessed. This could give you some hard evidence if needed.

Per the underlined, I seriously doubt the OP is a member of the Duane Chapman family.

The OP (bra) is a lady.

Nobody on here will be able to read the script you posted and decide if you've been hacked or not

The chances of being hacked are low IMO. Macs are pretty safe.

I'd just change passwords, turn on filevault, reinstall mavericks, etc

As far as whether or not you got hacked, there is no one here who is knowledgable enough to read the code you posted to tell you.

So we don't know if you should report him or not. I'd just report him to be safe.

Then let him play defense.

Attention please

Thank you for all of you rude comments, etc... turns out, the man has hacked into my computer via his cell phone and has been listening to me since November... In addition, you obviously dont know how to read because it was very simple to see by the lines I posted, so thank you for being *******s!

You have no idea what knowledge other posters possess. It is very simple to understand what the OP posted. All you have to do is learn. The OP was not hacked.

That is false. You simply don't know what you're reading. Your computer was not hacked, especially from a cell phone. You still haven't explained what symptoms you saw on your computer.

That put paid to GGJstudios impeccable reputation here. ;)

Life always presents interesting situations. The same person who some days ago was not sure in himself and started a thread:"Would anyone recommend buying an extra MBPr just to have Mavericks in the future?", now is so sure in himself that declares with absolute certainty: "there is no one here who is knowledgable enough to read the code you posted..."

Not to mention:
You must be nuts when you could just install Mavericks on another partition of external drive instead...
I didn't know this was possible.

Can someone please tell me step by step how to do it?
Clearly, an authoritative source!

The log file that was posted is a bit of a mess, from what I can see is it is a combination of a Console log for recent errors for the last two days and an email that looks to be the most recent command log for the terminal. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could make any conclusion about what is going on in this situation without more information.

Honestly, if the OP is worried about anything the amount of information about their computer that they have released to this board and thus the public would be more concerning. Just from a cursory look at those logs anyone could determine:
  • OPs name (computer user name),
  • Email address & a colleagues email address
  • MAC address for their router, and that it is a Netgear model - with the right database you could break that down to a pretty precise location
  • That the OP or someone they know uses Verizon Wireless - installed a helper app for it
  • They have a piece of voice modifying software installed (SBVirtualMic)

Honestly, I don't see how anyone could make any conclusion about what is going on in this situation without more information.
The point is that there is nothing in the posted information that points to hacking of any kind. The OP is jumping to a conclusion with no evidence to support their suspicion. Knowing how extremely rare OS X hacking events are (for the most part, only done during specific hacking competitions), it is very safe to conclude there has been no hacking performed on the OP's Mac. In a scenario such as this, the intelligent approach is to assume hacking did not take place, then search for any shred of evidence to the contrary, rather to assume a hack occurred.

Nope, that is just iCloud doing its thing.

To be clear, this refers to a preference list file.
"jenniferclift" is the user account on the computer, presumably, the OP.
"sandboxd" and "cloudpaird" are components of OS X.

People who don't know what they're dealing with shouldn't be using it.

In this case, it's all too obvious that the OP is far from being software-literate and jumps to all sorts of conclusions. The OP should quit using electronics and go back to using typewriters and all so that she will no longer keep bitching over her unfounded fears (and also quit polluting the forums).
