Need help on a purchase decision

Hi all,

I'm looking to by a cheap used tower on Ebay to serve as a media server in my apartment, for both iTunes and EyeTV/EyeHome. Preferably, I would also be able to use Doom III on it.

I currently have a great 12" 1ghz, 512mb ram, which I love, but seems to lack the power do really do the above. What are the minimum specs I need on a used machine to do the above? Do I need to go G5, or could a used dual 1ghz G4 do the trick? What type of graphics card would I need? What about RAM?

Lastly, how much performance increase would I see on my current setup if I increased my RAM from 512 to 1gb+?
