Sorry to bother you with what I'm sure you all already probably know. Long story short, my friend had a VHS converted to DVD at Wal-Mart, it contains a bunch of family stuff, but most importantly a wedding in the middle. He wants me to take it and edit it up a little and make a quickie lil' wedding DVD. How can I rip the video off of that DVD, into material that I can edit and use in iMovie.

Thanks for reading.

Grab a program called MPEG Streamclip. The website is named something different so just google it. It's free and awesome.

the app's called HandBrake.

you can rip from DVDs in either MPEG-4 or AVI formats.

it's my favorite program for ripping DVDs b/c it does everything in one click.

Good program but it doesn't convert it to an editable format.

VisualHub is the best for this kind of job, but MPEG streamclip works as well.
