    Hi all,

I've been ripping my DVD library with handbrake for quite a while now getting my movies and TV shows onto external storage to be used when traveling and to ultimately integrate into my home system with a WD HDTV Live setup.

Before the most recent handbrake update, I had been using the apple universal setting and setting the quality slider at 63%. This seemed to be the consensus over at ther handbrake forums for near transparent ripping. When ripping a tv show, I'd often set it to the default detelecline settings and set deinterlace for "Fast".

After the update, I'm not sure if these settings are still the way to go. My TV show rips look a little different.. perhaps a little softer? I know the quality slider was changed a bit.. Any ideas?

What settings are you using in order to get high quality rips that can be used across a variety of devices? Thanks!

I've always found that Handbrake produces encodes that are too soft when compared to the source material, and so I always use a deblocking value of -1,-1 in the Advanced settings tab.

Fast is ... well fast, but throws away a ton of quality. I suggest using the decomb filter instead.
