it doesn't really look like a box to me. Try making it more dimensional and changing the point of view up or down, side to side. Also try giving it flaps like a real box. Look at the Apple installer package icons for inspiration.

Hit deviant art and do a search on "box". I did this when I forgot where I got the box trash icon I use when posting to the desktop thread. I didn't find it, but not for a lack of interesting box images.

I like the new ideas a lot better, but imo they still need some work.

    Why is the box transparent?

Why is their so much stuff on the screen coming out? With that much stuff, it is hard to read anyway, so I might change it to illegible lines. Thinking you should be able to read it and having difficulty is annoying.

I like the black version better than the black/orange.

In general, there is just way too much stuff going on. The design is really busy.

I like the box, I like the gradient exploding out of it, but then you add the different color flaps, stripes, monitor, text . . . My eye just jumps all over the place.

This is just my opinion and I am far from a designer, so I may be completely wrong with many of my comments. For me anyway the second set is a vast improvement, keep up the good work.

If you are anything like your avatar, go with one of the last two. I like the last best so far.

Take the lines off of the box. Make it one color, and a lighter hue of the same color for the flaps. The rest looks good just needs some polishing.

    I like

I like the bottom one, with just the squiggles coming off the top.

The one with the squiggles and the hard glow beam thing is just too much it seems.

I think you should try to scale back a bit. In every new iteration you are adding more and more detail and complexity and it becomes distracting. The text on the screen, the stripes on the box, the streamers; these may be able to work but choose one. Think about what you want to emphasize, or what you are selling. Is it the box? The streamers?

Take a look at these. Start with something very simple and then add glossiness / gradients / color if you want.

I just checked this out on your site and the black makes the box just disappear. I know you want to keep it themed to your colors, but you will have to rethink that. The colors of the screen in the box and the streamers should accomplish that. Then you are free to deviate a bit. Maybe a box tan or something. It needs to be moved, also. It is way too close to the object in the center.

the new ones don't work for me. the flaps are too short to seal the box. there's an excess of information in them: the pattern/print on the box, all the text on the screen, the transparency of the box lets you see the opposite corner which is weird, and whoever is promoting the squiggles must not have a keen eye for design (IMO :p). the gradient kind of makes sense, but i think the squiggles are a last attempt to make your logo "cool" and shows that you're not confident enough in the look and design of just the box and monitor screen so you added some random squiggles.

i find the original orange box so much more elegant in comparison. though the rounded corners of the large box make it look more like a cup, the idea is still clear and simple. i think your icon should stay close to your original concept and you should back away from your newer ideas. maybe a different angled box could help like these

sorry i can't offer any actual ideas other than what i think you should and shouldn't do. good luck and keep it simple!

I like the first 1 of revision 2. the original orange icon to me makes me think coffee for some reason not unboxing.

however i do agree the flaps are to small on revision 2.

I like the boxbox better, but something about the flaps bothers me. I can't quite fix it in my mind, but they look a bit out of proportion. Like folding the front back would cover more that half the box depth. The squiggles do look a bit too busy. Maybe a few Roman Candle arcs with your signature colors?

The screen would never fit the box. I think that's what hits my eye. I took paper and pencil drafting in High School. The proportions on the bag are fine, but I don't like the bag. Maybe give the boxbox the save view angle as the ughbag.

but if it's coming out of a bag, it's not longer an unboxing. also, those arrows and emphatic lines are coming from behind the bag.
i suggest making a smaller 3d box (like the one before the bag revision), use the gradient to make a shine come out of the box, and have a product (could be the monitor) levitating over the box. maybe i'll make one real quick if i have time later to show you what i mean
