Greetings,
I'm getting no help from Apple support. I recently changed IP's and cannot get my Apple ID in my iPhone updated. I have no problem logging into iTunes with my new ID. I've changed the info in the iPhone via the Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendars and updated the accounts to my new settings. My problem is when I try to update some apps it takes me to a window that asks for my password and the Apple ID that is displayed above the password window is the OLD Apple ID and when I enter the correct password it says I've entered the wrong password. That password works fine in iTunes and is the same as I entered via settings. I've reset everything to factory defaults and reloaded from my backup and it all reverts to my original Apple ID not the new one. That makes me thing that the problem would be with iTunes but it displays the correct new ID and accepts the new password.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Art

Settings -> Store
Tap on "Aplle ID:your username"
Sign Out
and then sign in with your new ID

If you're updateing Apps that you downloaded using your OLD Apple ID then you will need to log into that Apple ID.

When you download an App from the App Store it stores the Apple ID it was downloaded via in the Apps local settings on your device.

When the App requests an update from the App Store it sends the Apple ID used to download that copy of it and the App Store then requests the password for that Apple ID before it will allow the update to download.

What you can do is delete the App from your iPhone and re-download it with your new Apple ID but you will have to purchase it again for it to allow you

Thanks, NormanBates! That did the trick. I don't know why Apple support couldn't tell me that during the six times I contacted them. I will have to remember that secret when other apps need updating.

Thanks again.

No worries :). I'm here to help where I can, hopefully it will result in help being given to me in return when I have issues.
