Hey guys i was having issues with my iPhone X well needless to say there sending me a new one my current one is on 11.2.1 I’m hoping the new one has lower then 11.1.2 if It does how do I backup from current x to the new one without updating? Please help. Thanks guys.

Unless I'm remembering wrong, I don't think you can restore/setup using a backup of a more recent iOS version onto a device running a previous (older) version and remain on that older version. In order to use the newer iOS backup, you'd have to upgrade device iOS to match it first. If I'm incorrect, I'm sure that someone will let me know < heads for closet to don asbestos yoga pants.>

Cheers!

UPDATE: Looks like I won't be needing those pants after all.

Once you turn on/activate the new phone it will recognize that a newer OS is available and download it then suggest the backup to restore from. Just use that new scanning set up process from the old phone and it will walk you through it.

Essentially you’re doing the same thing I did when I got my 8 Plus to replace my previous phone which was on a later OS, 11.0.1 or .2. I forgot to make a backup that morning but the new phone suggests it to you and triggered the backup on the old one while it downloaded and installed the newer OS onto itself. This is the one thing Apple has made so much simpler than it used to be. I used the iCloud process all the way, did not use iTunes.

So what your saying is I can use my iCloud and get all my info to the new phone without updating?

It will automatically update the phone when you try to restore from the backup that is on a newer version of iOS. Just had this happened two days ago setting up my mother’s new phone.

Damn so what can I do? To get my stuff and have it stay on an older version? Anyway to manually put my stuff on it from my old phone?
[doublepost=1514388091][/doublepost]Now I do have an update for 11.1.2 on iTunes from December 1st. But if the new phone is on anything below that I will still be in the same boat right?

If you want to keep it on a lower version of iOS, you must set it up as new. Or yes, you can use the older backup from iTunes, but if its not encrypted, you are going to lose data. You can always put a previous backup on a newer iOS. But with that being said, if you are going to be plagued by the notification crashing bug due to "Month 13 Out of Bounds". You are going to need to be on at least 11.2.

Well I called a guy that works on only Apple products here in my town since we don’t have an Apple store. And he said I could do it as long as I have my old phone just to use the AT&T mobile transfer.

AT&T what? No. The only way to transfer information via iPhones are backups. Whether its iCloud or iTunes.

It is not possible to restore a newer iOS backup to an older iOS version. Never has been.

The AT&T mobile transfer allows my current x to transfer everything from it to the new x.

Yeah all’s I really care about is pics and contacts. I can always install my apps again. So no problem for me.

I don't know about you, but being able to restore data, settings and passwords using an encrypted backup was worth moving to iOS 11 (already on my iPhone 8 Plus.) We learn to adapt when we have no choice even though we don't have to love it.

That said, I have two iPads that will remain on iOS 10. One (iPad 4) isn't on the approval list for iOS 11 and the other one is (iPad Mini-R); both will be able to continue using all of the apps that I've loved for years which don't work on iOS 11. The loss of so many old favorite apps on my iPhone has been the hardest thing for me to get past.

It’s not that I mind being on a higher version. I want to jailbreak and i have to be on 11-11.1.2 no higher.
