Hello, I have installed Windows 7 using boot camp and ran the setup program on the mac disc. Unfortunately, I have no sound at all, and when trying to run a simple game (Rollercoaster Tycoon 3), I get a no directx error. Any help regarding these topics would greatly be appreciated.

You should have been asked to save a copy of the Windows Utilities to a drive when you started the installation process of Boot Camp. If not, you can restart the process and you'll be asked to do so. Just save it somewhere convenient like a memory stick and then boot into Windows. Run those utilities to install all the needed drivers for your Mac.

If you've already done that there might be an issue with how Windows is setup. Check the volume and sound output device settings to find out the error. You might want to make sure you are in the analog or digital mode as required by your setup. If you are using the built in speakers it should be analog.

Thanks for the reply. For some reason, the Mac gave an unknown error when trying to download windows setup files. Therefore I used the Mac CD that came with the Mac. All sound levels are correct as far as I can tell. Unless the sound is linked to the DirectX problem.

I also noticed that the red light emits from the headphone jack when running Windows.

Ok, just to update. Sound is working now. However not directx. Should I download from microsoft?
