i just picked up my 2.16gig mac book, and am in the progress of updating it with leopard OS x. anyone know how i can tell if i have the santa rosa upgraded version? the guy who sold it to me said it did, but i dunno if he knows what he was talking about. also, how do i get about getting windows xp/vista on here and using it with this sucker?

well the guy said the tag was outta date and all the new ones the had recieved shoulda been with santa rosa on it. plus they said it only came in a 13'' when i thought there were 15'' aswell. any number or anything which might help indicate which one i got?

The MacBook only comes in 13". The MacBook Pro comes in 15" and 17" sizes.

As mentioned, if it's 2.16 GHz, it's the old model and not Santa Rosa. 2.2 GHz would be the new Santa Rosa model.

Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen and choose "About This Mac" to see what processor you have.

you can also launch system profiler.app (go to application folder->utilities->system profiler.app) and you get all the hardware info you might need about your macbook.

Don't quote me on this, but I also believe all the SR macbook came with Leopard pre-installed. And they don't have 2.16GHz, they only have 2.0 and 2.2 so if yours says 2.16 then it is NOT SantaRosa.
If that is what you wanted and the seller told you it was, I would go back and complain. The SR macbooks have an updated keyboard, and I don't know what else, but I absolutely love mine. I made sure in the store I got a SR macbook not the old ones.

This all sounds fishy to me. Did Leopard come in the box? Did you buy your macbook from an Apple Store? Something is a miss....

Like WildCowboy says, go to :apple:>>About this Mac and tell us what you see.

If this guy says he sold you a Santa Rosa macbook and it's only 2.16, I'd take it back to him pronto and tell him that fraud is a crime.

Hope it all works out for you:eek:
