I hate being stupid, but I can't seem to figure out why Playlists on an iPad are different than what I show on iTunes on my iMac, as well as how to edit playlist names and delete playlists (via iTunes).

On the mac side, I'm running the latest Yosemite (10.10.1) and the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26). On the iPad, I'm running the latest iOS (8.1.1). I'm running iTunes Match.

The iPad is connected to iTunes on the iMac. The list of Playlists in iTunes (in the left sidebar when I click on the music icon at the top) is different (much older) than the list of Playlists that appear on the iPad. I renamed a playlist on iTunes on the mac, yet I can't seem to make that name change show up on the iPad (or other iDevices).

Why is this so non-intuitive (or am I just non-intuitive)? Help, please.

In iTunes, do you have 'sync all music' enabled for the iPad? Do you have 'manually manage music' turned off?

Hmm. So it seems that it is not a settings issue. How about trying to remove all music (i.e. unsync) then re-synch'ing?
