To copy data the drive doesn't need to be formatted for windows, maybe some data was corrupted since that bootcamp partition was faulty, sorry about that.

On your windows installation usb stick, is there an option for you to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8? That could work.

Some people have reported issues with bootcamp partition on fusion drive, did you take the apple care plan? If you did, I would call them maybe they might have more answer for you, or even better take an appointment with one of their so called genius if you have an Applestore in your area.

I ended up just getting Windows 7 and redownloading everything I could remember from memory. Not what I wanted to do, but I don't have Apple Care so it's ok.

I didn't see anything like that in there. Would it be a specific name?

When you boot from the install usb stick, there should be an option to upgrade. I did not try with windows 8 but if you insert the usb stick when you are under windows, if the option exists, it will ask you if you want to. You can't harm your bootcamp partition by just inserting the stick

When you say that you didn't see anything like that in there, did you mean that you checked inside the stick's files? If so it would not be named upgrade anyway since it would be a setup option.

I don't even care anymore, 7 is working great and I think I've reinstalled everything I need. However, I hate the way Windows 7 looks so I installed a Windows 8 theme. But it won't work, I followed the instructions but the theme shows up in the personalize menu as blank.

I used this one: http://mare-m.deviantart.com/art/Windows-8-8-1-Theme-for-Windows-7-318932206

I've never changed the theme on windows but on the website you indicated they give this link for troubleshooting. I'm sorry things did not work out the way you wanted to but at least windows 7 is a great os, more to my liking then windows 8 to be honest.

Yeah Windows 7 seems to work better with my machine than Windows 8 but I hate the way it looks in comparison.
