Hey guys, so I need some help deciding what to do with my current setup. In my sig you can see that I have the iMac 27" and a Macbook and an iPad. I feel like I haven't been using my iMac that much lately. I much prefer to just sit on my bed rather than go to my desk these days. I stay at home and do some classes online so that is pretty much all I use my computers for.

I am starting to feel bad because it is such a beautiful machine with amazing capabilities and I am not using it to its full potential. I received it as sort of a gift for the first time I beat cancer.... So it has some sentimental value to me.

Soo... I was thinking, do you guys think it would be a wise idea to perhaps sell my Macbook and my iMac and buy a refurbished Macbook Air 11" and the 27" Cinema Display? I know someone who will buy both my iMac and Macbook for $2,100... Both have apple care and are a little bit over a year old. The Air and ACD would cost me $1,800... I don't know if it is worth it though in terms of power.

Let me know what you think! Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated :)

If you have a 27' iMac Core i5 that is in good condition it should sell for $1500 at least by itself, just look at eBay.

I think that sounds like a pretty good plan. If you're not using the iMac very much now anyway, the decrease in power of a mba should make no difference. I'm using a 27" ACD with a mbp, and it's really the best of both worlds. Desktop at home coupled with portability (even better for you with the 11").

If you are going ahead with this, I'd look at selling the iMac soon, as there will be an upcoming refresh.
