If I go to my root level (Hard Drive) and select the Applications Folder and then choose Get Info on the Applications Folder, here is what I see under Sharing & Permissions...

Name: unknown Privilege: Read & Write
Name: (unknown) Priviledge: Read Only
Name: everyone Priviledge: Read Only

Also, when I open the Applications Window, I see a pencil icon with a slash through it (does that mean Read Only?).

Make Alias is also dimmed in the finder Edit window for everything in my Applications folder - I know that is not right.

I have run Repair Priviiledges repeatedly in Disk Utility - it reports no problems; however, EVERYTIME I launch Repair Permissions the progress bar starts at about 20% and sits there for about 2-3 minutes before it takes off.

Is something seriously wrong?
