Are you trying to jailbreak your iPhone 4? What firmware is it on?

iPhone1,2_x.x.x is for the iPhone 3G. For the iPhone 4 you would need iPhone3,1_x.x.x

Here's a guide to installing the 4.3.3 JB with the newest Redsn0w release. Has download links for Redsn0w as well as the correct IPSW from Apple.

Whatever you want. It jailbreaks it so you can get Apps Apple won't let you (from Cydia). You can also tweak iOS and use all kinds of themes.

If you want to unlock (use on a different network), then there are additional steps which I don't really know much about, but if you want to use it with the network it was made for then you don't need to worry about that.

iOS is the operating system that runs on iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches; as well as iPod nanos and Apple TVs in a striped-down form.
